How did you start?

I spent twelve years as a graphic designer, running my own studio. Over time, I felt a strong desire to move from visual identity into wearable design. For the past five years, I have consistently attended Première Vision, Milano Unica, and Pitti Filati, journeys that eventually led to the creation of Victoria Slavinskaia. My first collection of nineteen pieces was developed through an intensive two-year collaboration with a Tuscan artisan with more than forty years of experience producing for leading fashion houses. I spent approximately 1,200 hours working in her studio, learning, creating, and understanding the language of craftsmanship. I didn’t know it then, but that was the beginning of everything.

Were you afraid to start without coming from a fashion background?

I wasn’t afraid of stepping into the unknown. I didn’t have blind admiration for authority, I didn’t feel the need to please everyone at any cost, and most importantly, I wasn’t afraid to be myself — to create what I genuinely found beautiful instead of what happened to be fashionable at the time, to say what I truly thought instead of what people wanted to hear. I always had confidence that I had something to show and something to say. Creating, building, and expressing ideas through design was something that fascinated me from childhood and something I had been moving toward throughout all the years before it.

What philosophy guides you in building your brand?

I believe we all deserve the best this world has to offer. But what the best means is deeply personal for everyone. That is what creates your own luxury. Luxury should never feel complicated. Sometimes it can be something very simple — but the moment it touches your skin, you immediately know that it is exactly what you needed. That is why I always begin with materials and only then move toward simple, timeless design. The most difficult person for me to satisfy is myself. I have never built this brand around praise or approval. Even when people love something, I usually still know what I could have done differently or done better. That constant search for improvement is part of who I am and part of how I create.

Who is the woman you create for?

I design for women who know their own style and value quality, comfort, individuality, and longevity over logos. She invests more of her energy into personal growth, her creative life, her relationships, her soul, and her body. Only after those things comes the visible part — her expression to the world — and that is where clothing can help. I try to create pieces that feel exceptional to wear: comfortable, functional, and crafted to a luxury standard while remaining as accessible as possible.

What principles do you follow?

No trends. No seasons. No fashion cycles. My creative process begins with exceptional materials. Only after finding them do I begin creating the design itself. I produce in limited quantities because I believe growth does not have to come from producing more. I want to build through longevity, craftsmanship, and value.

Why do you model your own pieces?

Victoria Slavinskaia is deeply personal — a direct reflection of my aesthetic, my values, and the way I envision these pieces living in the world. Being in front of the camera allows me to communicate that spirit with a rare sense of honesty and intimacy. For me, it isn’t simply about modeling; it is about embodying the soul of the brand — demonstrating how these pieces move, breathe, and feel. As the creator, I feel I can most truthfully express the emotion behind the pieces and communicate that through the camera. It’s similar to a singer-songwriter in music — no one can interpret a song quite like the person who wrote it. This is my visual voice.
